Plus size & curvy Autumn (Fall) Outfit Ideas #1

Whilst out and about today there was a definite breeze and a slight chill and it definitely felt like Autumn (or fall to all those over the pond). I had a lovely summer. England is glorius in the sunshine and everyone is definitely more carefree and happy. However, my favourite times of the year are Spring and Autmn. Autumn I love as it means its the run up to Christmas-the most magical time of the year. Weather wise I like the in between weather with cardigans and scarves. Not too hot, not too cold. Perfect! With that in mind, I am going to share with you a few outfit ideas. Perhaps you need some inspiration for things in your wardrobe or perhaps you need someone to blame for a shopping trip for new clothes. Perhaps you just like looking at lovely outfit ideas. Either way, I'm your girl and you are in the right place. There will be more outfit ideas coming your way but today is numero uno and its a good one! It's the turn of rich aubergine, florals, and gold (just like the leaves) and a girly but comfortable and cosy outfit.

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #18 HIGH WAISTED

plus size / curvy outfit of the day high waisted floral skirt
This week I was torn between two ideas to show you all. My first idea was high waisted skirt and the other the curvy girls best friend-the high waisted belt.  So what did I decide to do? Combine the two of course! I wouldn't deny all you lovely readers by only showing you one. I'm just too generous!
plus size / curvy outfit, floral skirt, high waisted, big belt, monochrome
Let's start with the skirt. It was one of those crazy sale finds you come across when you aren't really looking. It was £3 in the George @ Asda sale. An absolute steal. I love bargains.
The simple monochrome colours of the skirt are very 'on trend', as is the floral print and the high waisted style. Being 'fashionable' isn't something I'm overly bothered about but its a bonus. The skater style and cut is very flattering, skims over big hips like mine, and the fabric is very thick and soft. That and the fact it has a nice elasticated waist (not the ruched obvious elasticated waist, the hidden behind a thick seam kind so it looks nice with or without a belt), make it very comfortable.  I've mentioned before, but comfort is important to me. It's horrible to be tugging at your clothes or not being able to breathe etc. You know what I mean girls and it's not worth it!

As you might be able to see from the photo below, the floral print is almost embossed into the fabric and gives a really nice texture and adds something a bit different.
simple monochrome plus size/ curvy high waisted floral skirt, large waist belt, big handbag
The belt is a thick elastic belt with the big buckle and faux animal print detail. This belt goes with everything and I really think all curvy girls need this kind of belt in their stash. It pinches in the waist and really boosts curves. You can get them really cheaply too (although I can't remember exactly where this one was from), and they really change the look of an outfit and show off your shape.  High waisted belts are very vintage feeling too. They don't have to be thick, skinny belts work too and are also a firm favourite of mine. They just give a slightly different look. I highly recommend to any of you who havn't tried a high waisted belt to give it a go, and let me know what you think!

For the rest of the outfit- a basic black long sleeve top with really cute ruched detail on the shoulders (which I love and really adds a girly feel to the top and brings it up a notch from boring basic), basic long black leggings and ballet flats (I am waiting for ankle surgery so no heels for me!)

Accessories-large stud silver hammered earrings (not sure where these are from!), a cross detail double chain necklace (Primark), and my black Doctor style bag with gold detail and chain (local boutique).

I really like this look. I think it's simple, chic, flattering, comfortable and girly and I love the slight vibe vintage vibe.

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #17 PRINT T SHIRT

Ladies, this post is a day late. I'm sorry! Not only did technology fail on me last week when I was on holiday, but it failed on me yesterday. Not good, but hey better late than never and it means you all get 2 for 1 posts today! Check out my post for last week 'Vintage' before you carry on reading this week's.

This week the theme is a little different and more of a casual style so it's nice to mix it up a little. We all love a casual relaxed outfit. Let's face it, life is too short to be uncomfortable. I'm a firm believer of comfortable fashion! It's very similar to what I wore for my flight when going on holiday.
casual curvy / plus size outfit of the day / Converse / printed t shirt

curvy / plus size outfit of the day / American sport print t shirt / boot cut jeans /  casual relaxed day
Not only is this t shirt soft and comfortable, I absolutely adore the wine colour. It's a colour that growing up my Mum always said suited me and I definitely agree. I think it's because of my pale skin and rosy cheeks. It compliments that type of skin tone really well. I also really like the striking print and American style. It fits really well and is very flattering even though its figure hugging. I think this t shirt was from Peacocks when I was living abroad and shops were limited. I remember it being in the sale and very good value.

As for the rest of the outfit, I have on bootvcut jeans (New Look Inspire) that are too big for me but I like comfy looser jeans on a casual comfy day. I also have on my low top Converse as the red and white in the Converse matches the top (matchy matchy, check me out!) and Converse are the obvious choice for a relaxed day.
£5 Asda bargain watch
Accessory wise, I only have on this white and gold watch (I picked up last minute as I needed a cheap watch for holiday), and my silver hoops. On a casual day I don't like anything fussy.

My make up is the usual with a pink natural lipgloss and my hair is just the usual, nothing special!

What do you think of this t shirt? Comment and let me know if you love comfy days too and agree that clothes should be comfortable!

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #16 VINTAGE

Hello ladies! This post was supposed to be scheduled to automatically go up when I was away sunning myself in Cyprus, but technology let me down. Being organised didn't work but I thought better late than never and decided to publish it at the same time as this week's post (2 for 1 you lucky people), so here it is. I hope you enjoy.....
flattering curvy / plus size / vintage, black, lace outfit of the day
Vintage is a style I love. The hairstyles, the make up, the clothing. In terms of the hairstyles it depends how vintage we are going but the front quiffs of the 50's and the big glamour curls and big hair of earlier years are fabulous. Make up wise, the pale face, red lips, thick black liner is a look I think we all know I love and being a pale face girl, it suits me. I decided against the red lip for one reason and that is because they have featured a lot recently and so I went for a matte shade and matte lipstick is very vintage. I did still rock the red nails though! Clothing/accessory wise, when I think vintage I think lace, pearls, embroidery and patterns. Simple yet pretty clothing. I do have a few tea dresses but apart from the cut, they are very modern with modern prints so they didn't really fit. I decided to wear a top and shrug that screams vintage to me with vintage earrings. I put together an outfit in a simple but modern style.
Dorothy Perkins top, Matalan Jeggings, Primark shrug- plus size, curvy outfit of the day
This top is a firm favourite of mine. I have worn it for nights out, interviews, funerals, work, dates, casual days out-literally everything. It can be dressed up a bit or dressed down. It's from Dorothy Perkins some years ago. The black jeggings are from Matalan and the shrug from Primark.
Lace embroidery detail high neck Dorothy Perkins top and Primark shrug cardigan
You can really see the detail of the top here. It's so beautiful and screams vintage with the lace detail, floral embroidery and high neck (that wouldn't sit right for the photo!). Also, you can see the pleat and gorgeous edging detail. The top has a 'scrunched' look to it so is always creased. It's really hard to pick up in photos but looks really nice as it gives it texture, and doesn't just look like you couldn't be bothered to iron it! As you can see, the shrug also has lace detail which compliments the detail on the top. Lace, floral, patterns, embroidery and insert details such as the top part of the top are very vintage in style. I really like how, although you can't see anything skin wise, it does have a hint of sexiness about it due to the see through parts.
simple curvy / plus size outfit of the day black
The cut of the top is very flattering and the shoulders seem to be cut really well too. I think in all black, it makes for a very chic outfit.
vintage earrings, matte lipstick, winged liner face of the day
Earrings wise I had so many to choose from. I was going to do the red lip and red earrings thing but as I veered away from red lips as they have featured heavily on my blog recently, I went for blush coloured enamel earrings with gold surrounds that have cut out detail. Large studs like this really fit the theme. You can't really see much of my make up, but I went for thick black liner, big lashes (very Hollywood vintage glamour) a matte nude/brown lipstick (matte lipstick, again really fits with vintage), I also went for pale skin and quite a bit of blush which again fits the theme. No fake tans and bronzer years ago and fresh faced with a glow was the thing which I love! As for hair, I went feminine but simple as I was in a time crunch but a head band scarf would look great with this outfit and fit the theme well. A bigger version of the one in my last post would work.
Barry M 273 Raspberry Nail varnish Polish.
Red is so very vintage and I couldn't resist red nails. The outfit needed some colour and this was it. I adore this nail varnish. It's such a gorgeous deep raspberry colour. I highly recommend it.
Accessorize sequin bow detail ballet flat suede shoes
If I had my way, I would be wearing Mary Jane mid heels to go with the theme of this week, but as many of you know I can't wear heels due to an ongoing heel injury. Therefore flats are my best friend! I decided sequins are always a good thing and they add to the look. They also fit as the vintage look often has bows and is often very girly and you can't get much more girly! The cream and black are very classic together. The black part is suede which gives another texture to the outfit and gives the shoes an even more feminine feel.

Are you a lover of the vintage look? Let me know what you think of my outfit! If you'd like to see more vintage then check out my lace dress post. The dress has a definite vintage feel to it.

I love these pieces too. The first one is very similar to my top and the second is such a pretty dress!

£17.99 New Look
£32 Dorothy Perkins

Are you a lover of vintage style? I love it. The hair, the make up, the clothing. It's timeless in my opinion!

Blog Series - Curves around the World - Curvy Plus size Outfits - WEEK #15 POLKA DOTS

polka dot pattern outfit of the day curvy / plus size
Is anyone feeling dotty today? If so you're in luck.....

Today's theme is 'POLKA DOTS'. Polka dots are girly, pretty and fun, and patterns of all kinds are very in fashion right now. I love how polka dots are a simple crisp pattern that looks really cute and fresh in an outfit. Let's see what I came up with....

I decided to show you two ways to wear your dots-one more out there than the other, one piece of clothing and one accessory. I like showing a few different options sometimes to suit different tastes, moods and styles, so I hope you enjoy.
polka dot strapless top Matalan - New Look cardigan -  curvy / plus size - spring / summer outfit
The first option I put with my Kurt Geiger suede bow sandals, black jeggings from Matalan, and a loose white cardigan from New Look.  Jewelry wise I had on my silver hoop earrings.

The top I bought on a whim to go on holiday last year (road trip in Canada), as I wanted something cool and casual that was easy to wear but also summery and fun. I knew we would be int he car a lot and out walking and sightseeing. This definitely fits the bill. It was £6 from Matalan. I love it. It is so easy to wear and you don't have to worry about sucking things in or whats showing. It's a soft cotton fabric, strapless, with ruching at the bust and a seam under the bust (which gives the top some shape and shows my figure a little), and then pleats which go all the way around the top. The edges to the pleats is a really nice extra detail that really adds to the top.

Now pleating isn't usually too flattering but this seems to work and hides things rather than accentuating them. That's a fantastic thing, right girls?!
Curvy / plus size outfit black , polka dot headband, black Matalan jeggings, Dorothy Perkins top
My second option is using accessories. I went for a plain outfit to show the headband off. The sandals and jeggings are the same and then I added a soft jersey top from Dorothy Perkins.

The headband, from Primark, is soft and partially stretchy only half the way around. I think worn right it's fun and a bit different. I have the same one in a blush/nude colour as it was a pack of two.
You can wear it in two ways, either the bow at the top or sometimes I put the bow underneath my hair at the back which makes the headband less OTT as just the plain band section is showing.
Primark polka dot headband outfit of the day -  plus size / curvy
Want to see more polka dots? Here are a few other pieces I like:
Dorothy Perkins Polka Dot Dress £20
Asos Curve Boyfriend Polka Dot Jeans-  £40
What do you think of polka dots and which of my looks is your favourite? Leave a comment and let me know or tweet me @everysparkles which is your favourite. You could even attach a photo of an item or yourself wearing polka dots :)
